After nearly three years apart, proton therapy clinical experts, thought leaders, and advocates gathered in person this April at the National Association for Proton Therapy 2022 Annual Conference to discuss the future of proton therapy. Mevion attended the meeting and hosted an Industry Symposium on April 5th, sharing insights from our customers and FLASH updates from our Advanced Development team.

Mevion Industry Symposium: Developing Clinical and Financial Success with Mevion Proton Therapy Technologies.

Mevion's symposium provided an overview of what is needed to establish and run a successful proton therapy program. Mevion customers discussed their experiences from clinical, operational, and financial perspectives.

Dr. Matthew Poppe spoke about the integration of the MEVION S250i Proton Therapy System into the existing radiation therapy department at Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) and how that benefited not only their clinical team but also patients, especially pediatric patients, in the vast Mountain West region. Dr. Poppe also shared HCI's experience with a diagnostic CT-on-Rails to achieve both treatment accuracy and workflow efficiency.

Dr. Scot Ackerman shared the journey of building and running the world's first physician-owned proton center, Ackerman Cancer Center, which recently reached the 2,000th patient milestone with a single-room Mevion system. Keith Potter, CEO of the Kansas City Proton Institute at Kansas City Urology & Oncology, and Dr. Mark Thompson detailed the formation of their proton institute. Brian Donahoe, President of Union Equipment Finance, shared key strategies and financial products to fund proton therapy projects.
